• Ramon Torres of the Burlington Royals was named the Appalachian League Player of the Week after hitting .381 (13-for-34) with two doubles, a triple, two homers, seven RBIs and seven runs.

Torres, a 20-year-old second baseman, was signed by the Royals as a 16-year-old in 2009 and is hitting .317 in 28 games for Burlington this season.

• Terrence Gore, an outfielder for Class A Lexington, is ranked second in the South Atlantic League with 56 steals this season. Gore was selected in the 20th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft and has stolen 109 bases in 116 attempts for a 94 percent success rate.
