Joe Mauer, who was placed on the seven-day disabled list with concussion-like symptoms on Tuesday, met with a Detroit doctor on Thursday and was cleared to fly back to Minnesota on Thursday night. Mauer spent Wednesday resting at the team hotel.

• Top prospect Byron Buxton has six multihit performances over his last 10 games with Class A Advanced Fort Myers. Buxton, ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect according to MLB.com, is now hitting a combined .330/.416/.522 with 12 homers, 19 doubles, 16 triples and 52 stolen bases in 113 games between Class A Cedar Rapids and Fort Myers.

• The Twins are on pace to set the club record for most times striking out in a season. Entering Thursday, They've struck out 1,068 times and are on pace for a team-record 1,384 strikeouts. They've struck out 10-plus times in 45 of their 125 games.
