Worth noting

• The Brewers announced on Friday that the Brewers Community Foundation raised more than $234,000 during the week of Aug. 15-21 at Miller Park in support of the foundation's charitable causes. The weeklong fundraiser included such activities as the "Ultimate Auction," which included one-of-a-kind memorabilia items and experiences. Other activities included the Pink Tie Guy event -- hosted by Doug and Ellen Melvin with special guest Hank Aaron as well as Brewers staff, players and coaches.

The areas of focus for the foundation include health, education, recreation and basic needs for children and families in Greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

• Left fielder Khris Davis was a late scratch from Friday's lineup because of a sore left wrist and is day to day. Logan Schafer started in his place.

• Entering Friday's series opener, the Brewers were 12-7 in their last 19 road games and 4-0-2 in their last six road series.

•  Jean Segura, who was not in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale with the Pirates because he was feeling sick, was back in the lineup on Friday. Roenicke said that Segura is still recovering but well enough to play.

"He had something going on in his throat," Roenicke said. "Not a cold, but something else. He feels a little better today. We've got him on something, and he's on the way to recovery."

Tom Gorzelanny, who exited a relief appearance after two pitches on Monday because of stiffness in his shoulder, had the shoulder examined and was not with the team for the opener against the Cubs.

"The exam checked out good," said Roenicke. "There are no major issues going on. So it's a little inflammation, which is what they thought, a little cuff irritation. I don't know if he will [join the team for the series in Chicago] or not. He's getting therapy with [team physical therapist] Kevin [Truitt] up there today, so I'm not sure."

The team is not considering placing Gorzelanny on the disabled list at this time.
