Allen Craig (mid-left foot sprain) is scheduled to be re-evaluated Thursday by Dr. John Naduad, a foot and ankle specialist at Mercy Hospital. Craig was cleared for a light weight room workouts Tuesday and continues to walk without a boot.

• Class A State College, the Cardinals' short-season rookie club, earned a spot in the New York-Penn League Championship Series with an elimination game victory against the Pirates' affiliate on Sunday. The best-of-three Championship Series opens Tuesday at the Tri-City ValleyCats (Astros) home park. State College will host Game 2 on Wednesday and, if necessary, Game 3 on Thursday.

• Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that all uniformed personnel will wear an American flag patch on their caps Wednesday, as the sport pays tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Special bases and lineup cards will be used at all games, and home clubs will have a pregame ceremony during which there will be a moment of remembrance.
