Worth noting

• Rays second baseman Ben Zobrist made history in the fifth inning of Friday's game vs. the Twins when he drew a one-out walk off starter Kevin Correia. That was Zobrist's 461st career walk, breaking the franchise record he shared with Carlos Pena.

• Catcher Jose Molina returned to the Rays and was in the starting lineup Friday after taking a day off to be with his mother, who underwent successful surgery for a bacterial infection in St. Louis.

• Maddon penciled Kelly Johnson into the lineup Friday as the designated hitter ahead of Luke Scott and Matt Joyce, his other left-handed options. Maddon said it was mostly a matter of getting Johnson some at-bats to keep him sharp down the stretch, although Johnson also has a .360 batting average (9-for-25) with five home runs and 10 RBIs against Twins starter Kevin Correia.
