Worth noting

• The Mets are still mulling whether to give Jon Niese one final start Sunday against the Brewers. If Niese does not pitch, Collins said he would likely bring back Daisuke Matsuzaka on three days' rest.

• Collins said that interim closer Hawkins has recently been unavailable due to triceps soreness, "which is indicative of fatigue." The 40-year-old Hawkins has appeared in 70 games this season, his highest total since 2004 and the second-highest mark of his 19-year career.
