Worth noting

• Shortstop Everth Cabrera was a late scratch Tuesday with a sore right knee, the team announced. Alexi Amarista got the start at shortstop. Cabrera leads the Padres with a .340 average and 18 hits. He's started each of the first 13 games this season.

• Right-hander Burch Smith, a member of the rotation for Triple-A El Paso, has landed on the seven-day disabled list with muscular soreness in his right forearm. The Padres expect him to be ready for his next start, but they needed to make a roster move to add another pitcher so they wouldn't be shorthanded in the interim. Smith is 0-2 with an 18.56 ERA in two starts. He's allowed 11 runs on 13 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

• Pitcher Casey Kelly, working his way back from Tommy John surgery last April, took a step forward in his rehabilitation program on Tuesday, when he threw two innings in an extended Spring Training game in Arizona. He told the organization that he felt good afterward, said general manager Josh Byrnes.
