Worth noting

• As the corresponding move to put Tuesday starter Matt Shoemaker on the 25-man roster, the Angels optioned reliever Cory Rasmus to Triple-A Salt Lake. Rasmus was charged with two earned runs and recorded only one out in Toronto on Monday in his second appearance of the season.

• Angels shortstop Erick Aybar, who batted leadoff in seven of the Angels' previous eight games, on Tuesday was out of the starting lineup for just the second time this season. Aybar said he was perfectly healthy and that it was just a day to get off his feet.

• Reliever Dane De La Rosa (right s/c joint irritation) has appeared in four games for Triple-A Salt Lake, but Scioscia indicated that a return was not close.

"He's trying to build some arm strength, trying to get where his velocity and command are where it needs to be, and it's taken a little bit of time," Scioscia said.

• On hitting coach Don Baylor, who is recovering from a fractured femur, Scioscia said: "It's still going to take a little time, but his rehab is going very well. I'm sure he'll come around this next homestand, but he's not ready [to be in the dugout during games] yet."
