Worth noting

• Shortstop Chris Owings missed his third straight game Tuesday and Gibson said it was not for the reasons he told the media on Sunday.

At the time Gibson said Owings was out due to a left ankle injury. In reality, the ankle injury had pretty much healed, and it was instead his left shoulder that was injured.

Owings sustained the injury on a play at the plate in Friday night's game against the Giants. Gibson did not reveal that it was the shoulder that kept Owings out on Saturday and Sunday because he wanted Giants manager Bruce Bochy to think Owings was available to pinch-hit.

• D-backs top prospect Archie Bradley has completed his rest and rehab from a mild flexor strain in his right elbow.

Bradley will join Double-A Mobile to resume his season. Prior to the injury he had been with Triple-A Reno.

• The D-backs will stay in rotation despite two off-days this week, as Gibson believes the extra rest will help his young pitchers.
