• The A's claimed outfielder Kenny Wilson off waivers from the Blue Jays on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento. They also outrighted outfielder Nick Buss to Sacramento.

Buss had been designated for assignment Saturday to clear a 40-man roster spot for Samardzija.

• A's Minor League outfielder Herschel "Boog" Powell has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for an amphetamine in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Powell, currently on the roster of Class A Advanced Stockton, is effective immediately.
