• A's right fielder Josh Reddick is likely to begin his rehab assignment Sunday or Monday, in Class A Stockton or Sacramento, according to a club official. Reddick was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 29 with a strained right knee.

• A's left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz made his first rehab start when Sacramento faced the Reno Aces on Saturday night. Pomeranz broke his right hand slamming it on a chair in mid-June, which landed him on the 15-day disabled list. Melvin intimated Saturday he hasn't decided what he'll do with the rotation when Pomeranz is ready to return to the big leagues.
