•  The Royals honored the late Al Zych with a moment of silence before Thursday's game. Zych, a Kansas City native, served as the Royals' equipment manager from their inaugural season in 1969 to 1988. He passed away on July 13 in a two-vehicle accident near the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri at the age of 87.
