Worth noting

• Philadelphia claimed Jerome Williams, whom the Rangers designated for assignment on Friday.

• Outfielder Mike Carp, who left Saturday's game at Houston in the third inning with tightness in his left groin, is improving and is listed as day to day. He wasn't scheduled to be in Sunday's lineup, according to Washington.

• As Washington and Alex Rios had stated days earlier, Rios, who is battling a sprained right ankle, was back in the Rangers lineup on Sunday, playing right field and batting third.

Robinson Chirinos was in the lineup catching right-hander Nick Martinez. Geovany Soto had caught the first two games of the series against the Astros after having been activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday.
