Worth noting

Yadier Molina, who tore a ligament in his right thumb on July 9, has had his hard cast removed and is now supporting his thumb with a splint that allows for some increased mobility. Molina had said he expected to start doing more with his thumb after a five-week rest period. He'll hit that mark later this week.

Michael Wacha (right shoulder stress reaction) is continuing the early stages of his return-to-pitch program back in St. Louis and has had no setbacks. Wacha has not yet graduated to throwing off the mound, and that might not come until after he undergoes another MRI on Aug. 18.

• Triple-A Memphis banged out 21 runs on 21 hits in a runaway win over New Orleans on Saturday. Everyone in the starting lineup had at least one hit as Memphis scored more runs than it had in any game since July 22, 2012. Outfielder Tommy Pham had a four-hit day that included a home run, four RBIs and four runs scored. Pete Kozma also drove in four and went deep. Memphis batted around the lineup in three different innings.
