• Nationals center fielder Denard Span received a scheduled day off against the Dodgers on Tuesday. Span and manager Matt Williams planned the off-day as recently as Monday.

• Agent Scott Boras took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and his clients Stephen Strasburg , Bryce Harper, Danny Espinosa, Anthony Rendon and Rafael Soriano poured ice water on the representative.
