Worth outrighted to Toledo; can refuse assignment

DETROIT -- Shortstop Danny Worth has been outrighted to Triple-A Toledo, the Tigers announced Friday.

Worth, who was designated for assignment on Wednesday to make room for shortstop prospect Eugenio Suarez, cleared waivers and now has the option to decline the Toledo assignment and become a free agent. A decision must be reached by Saturday.

The 28-year-old Worth, who dabbled as a knuckleball reliever in two games last month, has hit .230 with an OPS of .588 in 135 games with Detroit.
