Yankees acquire OF Dustin Ackley from Seattle

The New York Yankees today announced they have acquired OF Dustin Ackley from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for RHP Jose Ramirez and OF Ramon Flores.

Ackley, 27, hit .215 (40-for-186) with 22R, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 6HR and 19 RBI in 85 games with the Mariners this season. In 584 career games over five Major League seasons with Seattle (2011-15), the left-handed batter has hit .243 (488-for-2,012) with 249R, 91 doubles, 42HR and 201 RBI.

Born in Winston-Salem, N.C., Ackley has appeared at second base (282 games), left field (207 games), center field (71 games), first base (18 games) and right field (two games) in his Major League career. He was originally selected by the Mariners with the second overall pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.

Ramirez, 25, made three relief appearances for the Yankees this season, posting no record and a 15.00 ERA (3.0IP, 5ER). The righthander owns an 0-2 record and 7.62 ERA (13.0IP, 11ER) in 11 career games with the Yankees (2014-15).

Flores, 23, made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2015, batting .219 (7-for-32) with 3R and one double in 12 games. The left-handed batter had three stints with the Yankees this season (May 30-June 10, June 21-23 and July 3-8), while spending the balance of his campaign with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he hit .286 (79-for-276) with 43R, 11 doubles, 7HR and 34 RBI in 73 games.
