Yankees claim outfielder Adams off waivers

January 15th, 2016

The Yankees claimed outfielder Lane Adams off waivers Friday, one week after he was designated for assignment by the Royals to make room on the roster for Alex Gordon.
A former 13th-round Draft pick by Kansas City in 2009, Adams, 26, played 134 games between Double-A and Triple-A in 2015, batting .281 with 16 homers, 31 stolen bases and a .791 OPS. He played six games in the Majors in 2014, going 0-for-3 with the Royals.
In a corresponding move Friday, the Yankees designated infielder Ronald Torreyes for assignment. Torreyes was acquired from the Dodgers on Tuesday as a part of the trade for left-hander Tyler Olson.
