Trio of Yanks shows off power in AFL victory

They may not be a part of the 25-man roster quite yet, but the Yankees prospects are certainly living up to the organization's Bronx Bombers moniker in the early stages of the Arizona Fall League.

New York prospects stole the show Monday afternoon as Gary Sanchez, Tyler Wade and Tyler Austin led the Surprise Saguaros to a 6-1 victory over the Peoria Javelinas at the Peoria Sports Complex.

The trio of Yankee prospects went 4-for-12 with a pair of homers and three RBIs.

Sanchez, the organization's No. 5 prospect, jumpstarted the scoring with a solo homer in the fourth inning - his fifth homer in eight games.

Sanchez's homer sparked the offense and then his teammates carried the momentum as the club scored in four consecutive innings and five of the final six frames.

The catching prospect wasn't the only Yankee to show some power as Austin added a solo homer of his own and Wade, New York's No. 9 prospect, drove in a run with a sac fly.

Austin, like Sanchez, is off to a fast start in the Arizona Fall League with hits in five of six games and an early .333 batting average.

Although the Yankees prospects provided the bulk of the offense, they were not alone. Texas' Jurickson Profar got in on the action with another big day.

Profar went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, a triple and a double. The Rangers second baseman has a hit and RBI in all four games he's played and is hitting .412.

However, Monday's win wasn't all about the offense.

Adrian Houser, the No. 27 prospect in Milwaukee's organization, put together another strong outing.

Houser, whom the Brewers acquired from Houston in a midseason trade, gave up one run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The run, which came on a Fernando Perez RBI triple, was the first Houser has surrendered in the AFL this season.

The right-hander has made a trio of starts and given up just one run on six hits in 10 total innings.
