Yankees capture dugout views on Snapchat Day

March 12th, 2016

The Yankees offered a peek behind the curtain at Spring Training during Friday's 7-1 victory over the Orioles, as Major League Baseball participated in its inaugural Snapchat Day.
Fans were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at life in the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues as players were permitted to bring smartphones into the dugouts and bullpens during Friday's spring games. They shared photos and videos throughout the day via the social media app -- with an occasional assist from SnapBat selfie sticks.
All 30 big league clubs published Snapchat stories, and New York's can be found at the Snapchat handle "Yankees."
The Yankees' Snapchat featured several of the club's stars, including Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Brett Gardner. It began before the afternoon contest in Tampa, Fla., with players interacting with fans and some pregame snippets from Alex Rodriguez taking batting practice to the performance of the National Anthem.
During the game, Snapchat presented a unique perspective from George M. Steinbrenner Field, where fans got a taste of game action from the dugout level -- including a Didi Gregorius single that was caught on camera -- a little bit of dugout dancing and even some face time with players in multiple languages.
