Pettitte expects to come off DL on June 1

ST. PETERSBURG -- Andy Pettitte said that he felt good after throwing a bullpen session on Saturday at Tropicana Field and expects to come off the disabled list when he is eligible on June 1.

Pettitte, who is on the DL with a strained left trapezius muscle, said that he is expected to pitch a simulated game on Tuesday and then could slot back into the Yankees' rotation.

"I think they want to see how I feel tomorrow, make sure everything is good," Pettitte said. "I think the plan would be a sim game after that, try to go ahead and see how it feels.

"The seven days I took off is not that long of a break, as built up as I was. With this bullpen, I felt good, so I think we could go right into a game and see how it goes."
