AL Wild Card holders clash on MLB.TV

September 18th, 2017

The two teams currently holding American League Wild Card spots square off in the Bronx when the Yankees host the Twins for the opening act of a three-game set as part of a seven-game slate streaming live on MLB.TV.
Entering play on Monday, New York sits above the numerous clubs in Wild Card contention, with Minnesota just four games behind. The Yankees are also three games behind the Red Sox in the running for the AL East crown, while the Twins try to hold off the Angels, among others, for the final playoff spot.
Minnesota turns to right-hander in the first game of the series. The 34-year-old hurler looks to keep his win streak intact; he hasn't lost since July 21, possessing a 4-0 record and 3.52 ERA in 10 starts since then.
New York counters with left-hander , who is still trying to find his groove following a tough start to his Yankees career. Garcia, who made one start for the Twins after being acquired from the Braves, was then traded to the Yankees just days later. The southpaw is 0-2 with a 4.60 ERA in six starts with the Yankees and has yet to complete six innings. He'll try to change that tonight.
First pitch for the contest is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
