The Kansas City Royals and Major League Baseball today announced that right-handed pitcher Yordano Ventura will begin to serve an eight-game suspension tonight for his role in an on-field incident in Baltimore on June 7. The suspension, which was reduced by one game by MLB, will begin tonight for the Royals' 7:15 p.m. game against the Detroit Tigers.
Ventura, 25, will be eligible for reinstatement on Tuesday, June 28 (barring any rainouts), when the Royals host the St. Louis Cardinals. During the course of his suspension, Ventura may be in uniform and participate in his regular pre-game routine, however, at game time he must be out of uniform and watch from the stands or a suite.
