LOS ANGELES -- For the first time in 43 years, the Dodgers are a 100-win ballclub, and the complete performance they turned in Monday night -- a 9-3 throttling of the San Diego Padres -- went a long way toward showing how they got there.
The National League West champions got offense from everywhere -- including a homer and a three-run double from John Forsythe and a three-run shot from Austin Barnes. They got pitching, too, in the form of a two-hit, seven-inning gem from Yu Darvish, who struck out nine in an impressive postseason tuneup.

In the process, the Dodgers (100-57) reached the century mark for the first time since 1974 and the seventh time in franchise history. They now have a 1 1/2-game edge over the Indians for the best record in baseball and a magic number of two to eliminate the Nationals in the race for home-field advantage in the National League. Los Angeles can lock up the NL's No. 1 seed Tuesday with a win and a Washington loss.

"It's quite an accomplishment," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said about 100 wins. "The guys have done some great things, the coaching, the training staff. It's been a great team effort and it's taken a lot of players to get to this point. We haven't accomplished our ultimate goal, but to step back and say we won 100 baseball games is quite a feat."

The Padres, meanwhile, didn't muster much offensively, but Matthew Szczur came off the bench to notch a pair of hits. Left-hander Travis Wood was roughed up for six earned runs on five hits and four walks over 4 2/3 innings. It was the final start of the season for Wood, who posted 6.71 ERA in 11 starts after coming to San Diego from Kansas City at the Trade Deadline.
"It's been a little crazy," said Wood, who has one year left on his contract and will have to compete for his rotation place next spring. "First time switching teams midseason and being with two different teams. And one of my worst years to date. That's why I've got to get back to the drawing board and really grind it out this offseason."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Now, that's a first: The Dodgers pounced on Wood from the start. Chris Taylor led off the first inning with a double, and after a pair of walks, Forsythe came to the plate with the bases loaded. He unloaded them with a double into the left-center-field gap, the first three of his four RBIs. Forsythe, a former Padre, would tack on a solo blast in the third.

Austin power: Barnes has eight home runs this season. Three have come against the Padres. On Monday night, Barnes put the game out of reach in the bottom of the fifth with an opposite-field three-run blast against Padres reliever Cory Mazzoni. It gave the Dodgers an 8-1 lead -- plenty of offense with Darvish in cruise control.

The Dodgers' win was their 55th at home, tying a Los Angeles-era record set in 1980 and matched in 2015. They have two more games at Dodger Stadium before finishing the season with three games in Denver. The franchise record for home wins is 60, by the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers.

Padres: Rookie right-hander Dinelson Lamet has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres this season, but he struggled in his most recent start, allowing six runs to the D-backs. He'll be looking for a strong finish to his season when he gets the ball Tuesday against the Dodgers at 7:10 p.m. PT.
Dodgers: The Dodgers give the ball to Alex Wood Tuesday. The lefty enters his final home start of the regular season 3-2 with a 2.57 ERA in 11 games vs. the Padres.
