HOUSTON -- Yu Darvish will make his fifth start on medical rehabilitation assignment for Double-A Frisco on Sunday with an eye on returning to the Rangers' rotation next Saturday against the Pirates.
Darvish is down for six innings and 90 pitches Sunday as he completes his recovery from Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery. He has made four starts -- two at Frisco and two at Triple-A Round Rock -- holding opponents to a .125 average and a 0.79 WHIP.
Darvish, who underwent surgery on March 17, 2015, began his rehab assignment on May 1, meaning it expires on May 30. But this is expected to be his final start as long as everything goes well.
He would replace Cesar Ramos in the rotation.
