ARLINGTON -- Left-handed reliever Zac Curtis was claimed off waivers from the Mariners by the Phillies on Monday, while right-hander Ryan Weber remains with Seattle after clearing waivers and being activated off the 60-day disabled list.
Curtis was designated for assignment last week to clear a 40-man roster spot when the Mariners claimed outfielder Jacob Hannemann and right-hander Seth Frankoff from the Cubs.The 25-year-old southpaw pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings in three games over two stints with Seattle this year. He spent most of the year with Double-A Arkansas, going 1-2 with a 3.51 ERA and 13 saves in 51 1/3 innings over 41 outings.
Curtis was one of three players -- along with shortstop Jean Segura and outfielder Mitch Haniger -- acquired from the D-backs in a trade for Taijuan Walker and Ketel Marte on Nov. 23.
Weber, 27, strained his right biceps muscle during a spot start in Toronto on May 13 and missed most of the remainer of the season, though he has begun throwing recently and made one rehab appearance for the Mariners' Rookie League team in Arizona on Sept 3.
Weber's contract has been outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma, whose season is over. So he remains with the Mariners, but he's not being called up to the Major League roster for the final weeks of the season.

The right-hander went 2-0 with a 0.85 ERA in six games (five starts) for Tacoma at the start of the season, then was sidelined by his biceps injury in the fourth inning of his only start with the Mariners after allowing three hits and one run in 3 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
Weber was acquired off waivers from the Braves on Nov. 2 after going 1-1 with a 5.45 ERA in 16 games (two starts) with Atlanta in 2016.
