DENVER -- There wasn't much not to like about Zack Greinke's performance on Thursday night, when the D-backs beat the Rockies, 7-6, at Coors Field.
Greinke battled a tough Colorado lineup for 5 2/3 innings, he found his way on base a couple of times, and he even scored a couple of runs.
Though there was one part of his evening the D-backs would rather not see again -- his headfirst slide into the bag on his steal of second base in the fourth inning.

"I wasn't too happy with that," manager Chip Hale said. "I don't know where that came from."
Greinke gave a sheepish grin when asked about the slide.
"I don't ever want to slide headfirst," Greinke said. "But for some reason, when I was running, I didn't have good balance and was like almost leaning forward, so it would have been tough to switch my momentum into a feet-first slide. Everything's healthy."
The Rockies jumped on Greinke for a pair of runs in the first inning and another in the second before he was able to settle in and keep them off the board until departing with two outs in the sixth.
"Fastball felt good, slider was probably a little better than average, and changeup was good for here," Greinke said. "Usually, it doesn't move too good here, but it was moving all right. There were a couple of at-bats, with a lot of foul balls. I was having trouble finishing off a strikeout, and they kept just fouling off balls. Multiple at-bats like that got the pitch count up high."
Nolan Arenado's RBI double in the first was an example of Greinke not being able to put away a hitter early.
After falling behind, 0-2, Arenado managed to foul off three pitches before driving the double to right-center.
"I think early in the game, I felt really good," Greinke said. "Maybe attacked too much. Like Arenado got a double, I threw six straight strikes to him. Maybe I should have wasted a pitch or tried to get him to chase instead of trying to keep throwing pitches I know he's going to swing at. Maybe I should have been a little smarter with some of those at-bats earlier in the game where later on I felt a little smarter for the most part."
Greinke was in line to win his eighth straight start when he departed with a 6-3 lead, but that changed when the Rockies scored three in the eighth to tie things up.
Afterward, though, Greinke was feeling good about the team win even if it didn't end up in his column.
"It was a typical Colorado game, and I thought both teams played pretty well today, and it was nice to get the win," Greinke said.
