Ziegler bruised after being struck with comebacker

PHOENIX -- D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler stopped short of saying he felt good, but the bruised right-hander was thankful he was not more seriously injured when he was struck in the ribs by a line drive Tuesday night.

Ziegler said he was very sore on Wednesday and he will continue to receive treatment.

D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said he will all but certainly stay away from using Ziegler on Wednesday, but he's hoping that another off-day on Thursday will help speed Ziegler's recovery.

"He's pretty bruised up," Gibson said. "[I] was a little worried. I cross my fingers that it won't be that long."
