Braves vs. Rockies at Coors could mean fireworks

The players listed below could provide difference-making stats for DraftKings participants on Thursday.

Nick Markakis (Braves): The outfielder could improve on his lifetime .813 OPS against right-handers (.738 vs. lefties) when he vacates his pitcher-friendly home park and heads to offense-inducing Coors Field to face righty Kyle Kendrick (career 4.55 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). Markakis could also excel late in the game against a Rockies bullpen that ranks last in the Majors with a 4.67 ERA.

Cameron Maybin (Braves): Maybin -- who has hit .338 with eight steals across 142 plate appearances since June 3 -- could contribute in multiple ways when he faces Kendrick (6.00 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 2015) at Colorado's hitter-friendly park. Maybin and his teammates will attempt to put balls into play against a Rockies unit that ranks 27th in the Majors with a .676 defensive efficiency ratio.

A.J. Pierzynski (Braves): The catcher could provide cost-effective production at a premium position when he puts his lifetime .769 OPS against right-handers (.664 vs. lefties) on the line against Kendrick (career 4.75 FIP). As a big leaguer, Kendrick has allowed left-handed batters such as Pierzynski to post an .828 OPS (.743 OPS surrendered to righty hitters).

Troy Tulowitzki (Rockies): In his career, the shortstop has done his best work against left-handers (.970 OPS) and at Coors Field (.959 OPS). Tulowitzki could post difference-making statistics at a premium position when he hits at home against Braves southpaw Alex Wood, who has struggled this season to the tune of a 1.41 WHIP.

Nolan Arenado (Rockies): Like his teammate Tulowitzki, Arenado has fared best in his career against lefties (.871 OPS) and at his hitter-friendly home park (.861 OPS). The third baseman could excel against Wood or late in the game against a Braves bullpen that sits 28th in the Majors with a 4.23 ERA.

Wilin Rosario (Rockies): With a career .976 OPS against left-handers that greatly exceeds his .715 mark vs. righties, Rosario could be a key component of a Rockies stack against Wood. Like many of his teammates, Rosario has traditionally excelled at Coors Field, where he owns a lifetime .313/.352/.546 slash line.

Jhonny Peralta (Cardinals): As a big leaguer, Peralta has handled left-handers to the tune of a .796 OPS (.746 vs. righties). Peralta could reach base often or drive in multiple runs from a premium lineup position when he faces Pirates left-hander Jeff Locke (career 1.37 WHIP).

Anthony Gose (Tigers): The outfielder could reach base often when he puts his career .689 OPS against right-handers (.494 vs. lefties) on the line against Twins righty Mike Pelfrey (career 4.51 ERA, 1.48 WHIP). Gose could also swipe his 14th base of the year against Kurt Suzuki, who has allowed more steals than all but two catchers this season.

Justin Turner (Dodgers): The third baseman -- who is hitting .314 this season -- could be a cost-effective option in DraftKings contests when he brings his lifetime .817 OPS against right-handers (.677 vs. lefties) into a matchup vs. Phillies rookie righty Severino Gonzalez, has struggled in his initial season (8.28 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP).

Joc Pederson (Dodgers): With 17 homers across 225 at-bats against right-handers this season, Pederson may provide power for DraftKings participants when he faces Gonzalez. Pederson and his teammates will attempt to put balls into play against a Phillies squad that ranks 29th in the Majors with a .664 defensive efficiency ratio.

Yasmani Grandal (Dodgers): With a lifetime .827 OPS against right-handers in comparison to a .705 mark vs. lefties, the catcher could be poised to produce from a premium position at the expense of Gonzalez. The 22-year-old righty has a 4.38 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP across nine Triple-A starts this season.

Yasiel Puig (Dodgers): The outfielder has balanced lifetime batting splits, but he has compiled 20 of his 22 career steals against right-handers. If Puig reaches base against Gonzalez, he could swipe a bag at the expense of catcher Carlos Ruiz, who has thwarted only eight of 41 would-be base stealers this season.

Jose Fernandez (Marlins): After lighting up the radar gun across six innings in his 2015 debut, the right-hander will seek to silence the Reds when he brings his impressive career 2.31 ERA and 0.98 WHIP into a contest at his pitcher-friendly home park. With a dominant outing, Fernandez could come away with a win against the inexperienced David Holmberg (career 7.31 FIP).

Garrett Richards (Angels): The right-hander -- who has a 2.88 ERA with 238 strikeouts across 262 2/3 innings since the outset of last season -- could compile a handful of quality frames vs. Seattle at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field. The Mariners currently rank 26th in baseball with a .664 OPS against righties.

Zack Greinke (Dodgers): A dominant righty, Greinke has a 1.48 ERA this season and a 2.16 ERA at his pitcher-friendly home park since joining the Dodgers at the outset of 2013. The hurler could post difference-making stats in DraftKings contests when he plies his trade at home against a Phillies lineup that ranks 29th in baseball with a .650 OPS against right-handers.

David Price (Tigers): With a season-to-date 2.54 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP, the left-hander continues to be worth a large expenditure in DraftKings contests. Price may continue to dominate when he throws at pitcher-friendly Target Field, where he could come away with a win in a seemingly advantageous matchup vs. Pelfrey.

Cody Anderson (Indians): DraftKings participants could find an economical second starter in Anderson, who has recorded a 0.76 ERA with a 0.63 WHIP across his initial three Major League starts. True, the right-hander has compiled just 10 strikeouts across 23 2/3 innings, but he could accumulate several K's when pitches at home against an Astros lineup that leads the Majors with 806 whiffs.
