No certainty for Showalter as O's wrap season

BALTIMORE -- As the season winds down, Orioles manager Buck Showalter finds himself in an interesting situation this year when he sits down for his yearly end-of-season meeting with players. There's no certainty Showalter, whose contract expires along with executive president of baseball operations Dan Duquette after this season, will be at the helm next year.
Asked if it was difficult to meet with guys knowing his job status, Showalter said no.
"It's my job to have those things and help players, regardless. You do a lot of things here regardless of what it may mean for you," he said. "You do what's right … regardless of what down the road means."
Showalter's club entered Sunday 42-106, the worst record in baseball and in a full rebuild mode which is expected to take at least a few years. This is the first 100-loss team in Showalter's 20-year managerial career. The next highest was the 97-loss team the first year that Arizona was in existence.
