Tillman expected to have start pushed back
Righty scheduled for Monday, DL unlikely for ailing ankle
BALTIMORE -- Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman is doubtful for his scheduled start on Monday as he is still receiving treatment on his left ankle, which was rolled on the final out of Wednesday's performance when he covered first base on a grounder to first.
"He's not going to pitch Monday, more than likely, because he hasn't taken a work day," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said on Saturday. "So, there's two parts of it. One, you test it on a work day, and two, you see if it blows back up again. He doesn't have a whole lot of swelling. He's getting better every day, so I don't see it as a DL thing if we get to Wednesday or something like that and Monday doesn't happen. I still hold out hope he comes in [Sunday and says] 'This feels great, let's go.'"
Showalter said the O's wouldn't pitch a starter on short rest to cover for Tillman, so it'd either be a bullpen guy or a callup from Triple-A. Tyler Wilson is slated to start for the Norfolk Tides on Monday.
