sits atop plenty of American League leaderboards. Entering play on Monday, he was tied for first among AL outfielders in hits (78) and ranked first in fWAR (2.9). His six Outs Above Average are tied for first among AL center fielders.

Among AL outfielders, Mullins entered Monday ranked second in a slew of categories: batting average (.321), on-base percentage (.387) slugging percentage (.527) and total bases (128).

However, there is one category for which he has just barely cracked the top 10: All-Star voting.

MLB announced the first round of All-Star fan votes on Monday. It is not a question that Mullins is producing at an elite level, but if voting ended today, the outfielder would not be playing in the Midsummer Classic.

Mullins is 20,761 votes behind the ninth slot, which is currently occupied by Michael Brantley of the Astros. Two other Orioles finished within the top 10 vote-getters, but none within the top three: Trey Mancini placed fifth among first baseman and Freddy Galvis ninth among shortstops.

Orioles fans still have time to send Mullins to his first All-Star appearance -- until 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 24, to be exact. After this deadline, the top nine outfielders will advance to Phase 2, which will last four days.

The All-Star team will be announced on July 1 at 9 p.m. ET during the 2021 Google MLB All-Star Starters Reveal on ESPN. Fans can vote online and via mobile devices at MLB.com, all 30 club websites, the MLB At Bat app and the MLB Ballpark app. Additionally, they can Google “MLB Vote” or the name of their favorite player.

Minor League promotions and injury updates
The Orioles announced a few Minor League promotions on Monday. They also provided an update on outfielder Yusniel Diaz, the organization’s No. 8 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He will be rehabbing with Double-A Bowie this week, and he is working to return after being placed on the injured list on May 18 with a hip injury.

• LHP Kevin Smith promoted to Triple-A Norfolk
The lefty will join the Tides after tossing six outings for Bowie. In six appearances (five starts) this season, the No. 15 prospect owns a 1.04 ERA. He’s allowed just four runs (three earned) across 26 innings.

• INF Greg Cullen promoted to Bowie
Cullen slashed .281/.439/.313 over 10 games with the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds.

• INF Jean Carmona promoted to Delmarva
The Orioles acquired Carmona on July 31, 2018, in a trade that sent 2B Jonathan Schoop to the Brewers. The infielder has not made an appearance for the O’s in the Minor Leagues since ‘19.

• C Nick Ciuffo to join Norfolk on Tuesday
After fracturing his right hand while training at the Orioles' alternate site, the 21st overall pick in the 2013 Draft will join the Tides on Tuesday. Ciuffo has been sidelined since late April and is expected to make his season debut this week.
