Orioles claim lefty McCoy off waivers from Tigers

The Orioles claimed left-hander Pat McCoy off waivers from the Tigers on Friday, giving them 33 players on their 40-man Major League roster.

McCoy, 26, posted a 3.86 ERA over 14 appearances (six runs in 14 innings) for the Tigers this year. He also went 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 30 appearances (45 innings) between the Tigers' Double-A and Triple-A affiliates.

Between the Minors and Majors last season, McCoy held left-handed hitters to a .208/.276/.299 slash line in 87 plate appearances.

He was drafted in the 10th round by the Nationals in 2007 out of Sahuaro High School in Tucson, Ariz.
