BALTIMORE -- On the heels of a career year, Orioles outfielder Mark Trumbo was a recipient of a Silver Slugger Award, presented by Louisville Slugger, on Thursday night.
The award, one of three given to American League outfielders, marked the first O's outfielder with a Sliver Slugger since Adam Jones in 2013.

The 30-year-old Trumbo, who led the Majors with 47 homers, had 108 RBIs in 159 games. Acquired in an offseason trade with Seattle, he is the third player in Orioles history to post a 40-homer season in his first year with the club (also, Nelson Cruz with 40 home runs in 2014 and Frank Robinson with 49 home runs in 1966).

Silver Slugger Award winners, determined by a vote of Major League Baseball coaches and managers, go to the best offensive producers at each position in their respective leagues. Managers and coaches were not allowed to vote for players on their own team.

An All-Star this season, Trumbo competed in the Home Run Derby as the No. 1 seed, falling to eventual champion Giancarlo Stanton (Miami) in the semifinals. He finished the season ranked ninth in the AL with a .533 slugging percentage, and he set career highs in home runs, RBIs, hits (157) and runs scored (94).
