Orioles select Julio Borbón from AA; place Hyun Soo Kim on the 15-day DL

The Orioles today announced that they have selected the contract of OF Julio Borbón from Double-A Bowie and placed OF Hyun Soo Kim on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 11) with a right hamstring strain. Additionally, the Orioles have designated OF Henry Urrutia for assignment.

The Orioles today announced that they have selected the contract of OF Julio Borbón from Double-A Bowie and placed OF Hyun Soo Kim on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 11) with a right hamstring strain. Additionally, the Orioles have designated OF Henry Urrutia for assignment.
Borbón, 30, batted .289/.353/.373 (90-for-311) with seven doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 20 RBI in 83 games with the Baysox this season. He posted an 11-game hitting streak from July 4-18, hitting .468/.510/.660 (22-for-47) with one double, one triple, two home runs, four RBI, and seven multi-hit games in that span. Borbón led the Baysox in runs scored (48) and stolen bases (20) this season. In 288 career Major League games, Borbón has hit .272/.318/.347 (215-for-789) with 19 doubles, eight triples, eight home runs, 76 RBI, and has gone 47-for-61 (77.0%) in stolen base attempts. Borbón will wear No. 29.
Kim, 28, hit .329/.410/.454 (50-for-152) with 10 doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBI over 46 games in his first Major League season with the Orioles. He made his Major League debut on April 10, becoming the first Korean-born player in Orioles history.
Urrutia, 29, hit .280/.339/.372 (82-for-293) with three home runs and 34 RBI between Double-A Bowie (48 games) and Triple-A Norfolk (32 games) this season.
