Rapid Questions with Keegan Akin

What’s your favorite ballpark to play in?

I liked St. Louis a lot this year. It was a great atmosphere and I haven’t been in that part of the country much, so it was fun to see.

What did you want to be when you were little?

Surprisingly I actually did say I wanted to be a baseball player. I have Halloween pictures of me dressing up when I was young to prove it.

If an ice cream truck pulled up right now, what would you get?

Frozen Snickers.

What player or coach do you think would beat everyone in an arm wrestling contest?

Tim Cossins.

If you could trade places with one person for a day, who would it be?

Probably an actor or something, just to see the opposite side of the spectrum. Because we’re in the sports industry seeing the acting industry would be a little bit of an eye opener to me.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Probably something Brooks & Dunn. Something country that I’ve known for a while because when I get up there I’ll get a little stage fright and not know the words.

Which teammate do you think was the biggest troublemaker in school?

Definitely Joey Krehbiel. There’s no doubt about that one.

If you weren’t playing professional baseball, what would you be doing?

Probably working in the labor industry, doing something outside. Blue collar job, hands on labor work.

If you could see any singer in concert who would it be?

I’d say probably Elvis.

What is one word your teammates would use to describe you?

I don’t know if I want to know. I’m usually not too serious, joking around having a good time.

If you have the aux in the clubhouse, what are you playing?

Probably Juice WRLD, little bit of rap.

Who do you look up to the most?

I’d say my dad.

What was your favorite breakfast cereal when you were a kid?

Lucky Charms.

What was your first car?

2001 GMC Sierra with 220,000 miles on it.

What superpower would you like to have?

I’d say fly, so I can get places quicker.

If you could play any position other than your own, what would it be?

Probably go back to the outfield or first base.

Who’s the greatest athlete of all time and why?

That’s a really good question. Honestly, I’d have to go with Michael Phelps. He might not be the best of all time, but what he’s done is going to be hard to do again in the swimming industry just from a physical standpoint. What he’s done is going to be hard to beat.

What was your favorite thing about the 2022 team?

We all got along and meshed right from the get go, and you saw the results of that throughout the season. That’s what brought us together and made us win games.
