Replays award Flaherty overturned home run

BALTIMORE -- Orioles second baseman Ryan Flaherty hit a ball off the top of the out-of-town scoreboard in right field in the fourth inning. Flaherty appeared surprised when he was stopped at second base, and that brought manager Buck Showalter out of the dugout to ask for a review.

It was originally ruled a double, but the umpires granted Showalter's request, and after reviews, it was turned into a home run, giving the Orioles a 6-3 lead. The crowd sat quietly during the review, but cheered loudly when umpires emerged and signaled Flaherty's solo homer.

Flaherty was filling in for Brian Roberts, who was put on the paternity list earlier in the day Friday to be with his expecting wife.
