BALTIMORE -- Trey Mancini was honored on Monday as one of three finalists for the American League Rookie of the Year Award, voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA). It caps a remarkable season for Mancini, who was named a finalist alongside Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge and Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi.
While Judge, who will also vie for the AL MVP Award, is the frontrunner, Mancini's season deserve some recognition as he developed into one of Baltimore's most consistent hitters.

After a breakout spring forced his way onto the Opening Day roster, Mancini played well enough to get regular time and graduate from being a platoon player. He hit .293/.338/.488 with 24 homers and 78 RBIs, tying him for second most among AL rookies (trailing Judge). Mancini's homers ranked third most in club history for an Orioles rookie, trailing only Cal Ripken Jr. and Eddie Murray.
Mancini, 25, was the lone Oriole to be named a finalist for any of the BBWAA offseason awards, including MVP, Cy Young and Manager of the Year.
The Rookie of the Year in each league will be unveiled on MLB Network on Nov. 13.
