Orioles Team Up with Mayors' Feed the Hungry for Sorting Day

Volunteers sorted more than 60 tons of donated food on Nov. 16, 2018 to help families in need during the Mayors' Feed the Hungry annual Thanksgiving sorting day at Ed Smith Stadium.

The sorting day event has become an Orioles tradition in Sarasota.

Food arrives at the ballpark from 400 collection points across Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Volunteers sort the food and repackage it to be distributed by area agencies to families in time for Thanksgiving Day.

Volunteers came from across the community and represented dozens of organizations and businesses.

Sarasota's Mayor Liz Alpert helped out, too. She is one of several area mayors (and county commission chairs) who support the Mayors' Feed the Hungry Program.
