Forsythe filling holes all over for Padres
SAN DIEGO -- It's been quite the month for Logan Forsythe, the Padres' do-it-all man.
In 16 August games, Forsythe has spent time at second base, third base, shortstop, left field, right field and as a pinch-hitter.
"Knowing that I'm probably going to be utilized as more of a utility guy -- it takes a little bit of time to get used to," Forsythe said.
With injuries plaguing the Padres' outfield and Everth Cabrera serving a 50-game suspension, Forsythe has had to be ready for playing time just about anywhere.
"We're challenging him a little bit around the diamond, playing short and playing left and right and third the other day," Padres manager Bud Black said. "He's a guy who the more at-bats he gets, the better performance you'll see, statistically."
In the past three games, Forsythe is 4-for-10, including a pair of hits against Pirates ace Francisco Liriano, who otherwise dominated the Padres on Monday night.
