Padres go with catcher Miller in 14th round

This year's Draft is thought to have a deep group of catchers, and Ryan Miller was one of them who stood out in the middle rounds. The Padres selected Miller in the 14th round (418th overall) . He has a plus arm and athleticism that scouts believe could help him stick around long-term.

Miller is still a little raw at the plate, but hit .345 and drove in 26 runs while playing for San Bernardino Valley College (Calif.). He does have raw power and above-average speed for a catcher.

If Miller does not sign with the Padres, he has a committment to the University of Nebraska.
