Padres have come out swinging after no-no

PHOENIX -- Not quite two weeks removed from their worst offensive performance of the season -- you can't get much worse than being no-hit -- the Padres have resembled a far different team.

In eight games since they were no-hit by San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum on July 13 at Petco Park, the Padres have a team batting average of .305 and have scored 45 runs, the third- and second-best marks in the Majors during that span, respectively.

"A lot of guys are starting to find their way," said Padres manager Bud Black.

In winning three of four games against the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this week, the Padres had games in which they had 15 and 16 hits. On Thursday, they scored 10 runs and needed nearly every one of them in a 10-8 victory at Miller Park.

"I think one of the biggest things for us is our ability to put pressure on pitchers, even if it's not with hits ... just making them work hard. We've got the ability to really grind out some at-bats, and when you do that, good things happen," said Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso.
