Padres recall RHP Burch Smith from Triple-A Tucson

The San Diego Padres today announced they have recalled right-handed pitcher Burch Smith from Triple-A Tucson. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.
 
Smith, 23, is in his fourth stint with the Padres this season and has gone 0-1 with an 11.37 ERA (16 ER, 12.2 IP) and 15 strikeouts against seven walks and five home runs allowed in six games, three starts, for San Diego this season, his first Big League campaign. He has a 1.69 ERA (1 ER, 5.1 IP) with four strikeouts in three relief appearances and is 0-1, 18.41 ERA (15 ER, 7.1 IP) with 11 strikeouts in three starts for San Diego. In the minors, he combined to go 6-3 with a 2.63 ERA (27 ER, 92.1 IP) with 102 strikeouts in 18 starts between AA San Antonio and AAA Tucson. He was 5-1 with a 3.39 ERA (23 ER, 61.0 IP) with 65 strikeouts in 12 starts with AAA Tucson after starting the season with AA San Antonio where he was 1-2, 1.15 ERA (4 ER, 31.1 IP) with 37 strikeouts in six starts.
