Padres recall RHP Nick Vincent from Triple-A Tucson and option RHP Burch Smith to Tucson

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres today announced that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Nick Vincent from Triple-A Tucson and have optioned right-hander Burch Smith to the same Tucson club. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

Vincent, 26, is making his second stint with the Padres this season. The right-hander was recalled a first time on May 30 and appeared in two games, working a scoreless 4.0 innings total, including a career-high 3.0 innings on May 31 vs. Toronto at Petco Park. In 24 total games with Triple-A Tucson this season, he has gone 4-3 with a 3.55 ERA (10 ER, 25.1 IP) with 24 strikeouts against 12 walks.

Smith, 23, was recalled from Triple-A Tucson on June 8 for his second stint with San Diego this season but did not appear in a game. Over his first three Major League starts and appearances for the Padres during his first stint, he went 0-1 with an 18.41 ERA (15 ER, 7.1 IP) and 11 strikeouts against six walks. The right-hander has made eight starts total this season between Tucson and Double-A San Antonio, going 3-2 with a 1.52 ERA (7 ER, 41.1 IP) and 46 strikeouts against just nine walks.
