Alonso goes hitless in first rehab game

SAN DIEGO -- Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso went 0-for-3, grounding out twice and lining into a double play, in his first rehab game for Triple-A Tucson on Monday.

Alonso, who played six innings on Monday, been on the disabled list since June 6 (retroactive to May 31) with a broken bone in his right hand.

Alonso will play again on Tuesday before the Padres reevaluate him, but manager Bud Black said it is possible that Alonso could return before the All-Star break.

"If we feel that he's over that hump and he's painless and taking good swings, there's a chance by the weekend," said Black.
