Haseley back with org.; Realmuto returns

left the Phillies last month because of personal reasons. At the time, nobody knew if he planned to return.

But Haseley is now back with the organization, Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Friday.

Haseley reported to the team’s complex in Clearwater, Fla., where he will work to get himself back in shape. He can remain on the team’s restricted list for 30 days before he must be activated. He is expected to play for Triple-A Lehigh Valley upon his return. Haseley and Roman Quinn started the season as the team’s center fielders, but it is Odúbel Herrera’s job at the moment.

Herrera was batting .357 (10-for-28) with two doubles, two home runs, five RBIs and a 1.080 OPS in his last eight games entering Friday. Haseley batted .190 (4-for-21) with one double and a .429 OPS and struggled defensively in nine games before he left the team.

“We’re happy he’s back,” Girardi said. “He’s raring to go. He sounded great. He wants to get going. We look forward to him getting going.”

Realmuto returns
J.T. Realmuto spent only one day on the COVID-19 injured list before the Phillies activated him on Friday. He hit fourth and DH’d.

Realmuto did not test positive for COVID, but because he reported a stomachache and small fever this week, he could not fly with the team from Washington to Florida following Thursday’s game against the Nationals.

Realmuto flew to Florida on his own, Girardi said.

Realmuto suffered a bruised left knee on Tuesday, which is why he did not play Wednesday in Washington, and possibly why he did not catch on Friday.

Injury updates
• Shortstop Didi Gregorius’ sore right elbow feels better, Girardi said. He left Wednesday’s game because it started to bother him. He landed on his elbow last month while trying to make a catch in the outfield, missing three games.

• Right-hander Archie Bradley is scheduled to make his second rehab appearance Saturday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. If it goes well, he could rejoin the team on Tuesday.
