Adams dealing with irritation in right biceps

MILWAUKEE -- Reliever Mike Adams can't seem to get healthy and stay healthy.

He spent time on the disabled list last month because of a strained back, but lately has been battling irritation in his right biceps. It made him unavailable in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Brewers.

"It's kind of been going on for a little bit," Adams said. "Not a long time. Maybe like the past week. I was just trying to battle through. I just came to them today and said if you can give me a day or two off to kind of let it calm down hopefully everything kind of gets a little better and you move forward."

Adams said he did not think the irritation is related to the thoracic outlet syndrome surgery he had in September.

"I don't think so," he said. "I've had this in the past. It's one of those things that gets irritated. Let it calm down for a couple days and usually am good to go after that."

He has allowed four hits, four runs, four walks, two home runs and struck out three in 5 2/3 innings in six appearances since he returned from the disabled list May 26. He has a 6.35 ERA in that stretch.

"It just seems like I get rid of one thing and something else pops up," Adams said.
