Here's MLB Pipeline's roundup of the top prospect performances in the Minor Leagues on Saturday.
When the Phillies were still in the running for Manny Machado, Adonis Medina's name was floated as the type of prospect who might be enough to land the superstar shortstop. On Saturday night, Medina showed why he's on that level.

The 21-year-old right-hander was electric for Class A Advanced Clearwater, turning in by far his best start of the 2018 season as he completely dominated the Florida Fire Frogs, the Braves' Class A Advanced affiliate.
Medina threw seven shutout innings -- his longest scoreless outing of the season -- while allowing a season-low two hits. He struck out 12, his highest strikeout total of the year and tied for the highest of his professional career.
The Phillies' No. 2 prospect (and the No. 73 overall prospect in baseball) didn't allow a baserunner after the first inning. He retired the final 19 batters he faced, and struck out seven of his last eight batters.
Medina's 12 strikeouts on Saturday were the most by a Clearwater pitcher in nearly six years, since Jesse Biddle did the same against the Brevard County Manatees on Aug. 17, 2012.

Other top prospect performances from Saturday's action:
• No. 2 overall prospect Eloy Jimenez (White Sox No. 1) just continues to rake. A day after he belted two home runs, Jimenez ripped three more hits for Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. The 21-year-old outfielder went 3-for-4 with a double, notching his second straight three-hit game, his third straight multi-hit game and his fifth multi-hit game in the past week. Jimenez is now hitting .342 with a 1.008 OPS this season.
• In other White Sox prospect news, No. 80 overall prospect Blake Rutherford (White Sox No. 7) also had an excellent day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem, adding in a stolen base for good measure. The 21-year-old outfielder is now batting .303 on the season, and he has 11 steals.

• No. 36 overall prospect Jo Adell (Angels' No. 1) keeps on hitting. The 19-year-old outfielder went 3-for-4 for Class A Advanced Inland Empire on Saturday, scoring three runs for the 66ers in their win over Stockton. Adell is now hitting .308 at Class A Advanced this season.
• No. 33 overall prospect Michel Baez (Padres' No. 6) pitched his best game of the year for Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore. The 22-year-old right-hander allowed only a single unearned run in seven innings against the San Jose Giants, holding them to four hits and striking out a season-high nine. Baez has now put together back-to-back strong starts, after throwing seven innings of three-run, six-strikeout ball his last time out.
• A lot of Yankees fans have clamored for Justus Sheffield to get a shot in the Major Leagues as soon as possible this season, and MLB's No. 39 overall prospect (Yankees' No. 2) only gave them more reason to think so on Saturday. Sheffield tossed 5 2/3 sharp innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, holding the Columbus Clippers to two runs -- only one of them earned -- and picking up four strikeouts. The 22-year-old left-hander now has a 2.44 ERA this season.
• No. 51 overall prospect Yordan Alvarez (Astros' No. 3) has had to adjust to the Triple-A level, but the 21-year-old first baseman and outfielder had a big game on Saturday. Alvarez went 2-for-2 with a 2-run home run and a double for Fresno, while also drawing a walk. He now has three home runs in 12 games since joining the Grizzlies.

• No. 66 overall prospect Alex Kirilloff (Twins' No. 3) now has 12 hits in five games since Tuesday after another excellent showing for Class A Advanced Fort Myers. The 20-year-old outfielder went 3-for-4 out of the cleanup spot, increasing his batting average to .339 on the season. Entering this week, it was just .289. That's what a 12-for-22 stretch will do for you.
• Dodgers No. 5 prospect DJ Peters had been hitless in his last three games, but that changed in a hurry on Saturday. The 22-year-old outfielder launched his 20th home run of the season in his first at-bat of Double-A Tulsa's game against Northwest Arkansas. He then added a triple later in the Drillers' 12-2 win.
• Rays No. 6 prospect Wander Franco is having an electric start to his professional career. On Saturday, the young shortstop extended his hitting streak with the Rookie-level Princeton Rays to 24 games, and he's now hit safely in 27 of his 28 games since his Minor League debut on June 19. Franco is just 17 years old, but he's hitting .379 and slugging .647 so far in his debut season.
• Meanwhile, in Class A, Tampa Bay's No. 17 prospect Tobias Myers pitched a great game for Bowling Green. The 19-year-old right-hander fired seven scoreless innings against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, allowing just four hits while striking out a season-high eight. Myers has now turned in six quality starts (at least six innings pitched while allowing three or fewer runs) in his eight outings since the beginning of June.
• Cardinals No. 8 prospectOscar Mercado had a flawless game at the plate for Triple-A Memphis, going 5-for-5 against Colorado Springs. Mercado also stole three bases and scored a pair of runs in the Redbirds' 10-1 win. The 23-year-old outfielder increased his batting average 10 full points with the performance, from .279 to .289. He now has 29 steals this season.

• Blue Jays No. 15 prospectRowdy Tellez has ratcheted up the power this week. On Saturday, the 23-year-old first baseman crushed two home runs out of the cleanup spot for Triple-A Buffalo. Tellez has four home runs in his last four games after also homering on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

• Toronto's No. 27 prospect, Jordan Romano, also had an impressive game, but on the mound. The 25-year-old right-hander went eight scoreless innings for Double-A New Hampshire, allowing only three hits and striking out eight in his win over Harrisburg. Romano improved to 10-4 with a 3.56 ERA in his 19 starts in the Minors this season.
