Ruiz ranks fourth in vote for NL catchers

PHI View Full Game Coverage LADELPHIA -- Carlos Ruiz, statistically, has not only been one of the best catchers in baseball this season, he has been one of the best hitters.

He entered Tuesday just short of being a qualifier, but if he had enough plate appearances, he would have been first in the big leagues in hitting (.368), fifth in on-base percentage (.416), sixth in slugging percentage (.600) and fifth in OPS (1.016).

But Ruiz ranked a distant fourth among National League catchers in fan voting for the All-Star Game in the first ballot update released on Tuesday.
