ShopRite is a proud sponsor of the Phillies and a longtime friend to Philabundance, the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley. Through its ShopRite Partners In Caring program, ShopRite donates more than $3 million annually to food banks, such as Philabundance, throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
ShopRite is also one of the many Phillies partners taking part in the Phans Feeding Families month-long initiative, aimed to help raise money and collect food to feed the 900,000 people in the Delaware Valley that are at risk of hunger each year. "We are honored to partner with the Phillies to help alleviate the effects of hunger in our communities," said Christine Magyarits, spokeswoman for ShopRite Partners In Caring. "Through ShopRite Partners in Caring, ShopRite has donated more than $2 million to Philabundance and events like these help us raise awareness of this very important issue."
"ShopRite is a true summer hunger hero and this food drive on July 7th couldn't come during a more critical time," said Bill Clark, president and executive director of Philabundance. "Food donations are so important right now because Philabundance sees more families coming to us for food during the summer months. Many children in the Delaware Valley who receive free and reduced meals in school will not have access to summer meal programs and for families on a really tight budget, providing those additional meals for their kids may be impossible. Philabundance needs to be ready to provide food to those families who need it most."
